Adventures is a program designed specifically to challenge the minds of younger students who are exhibiting academic promise at a very early age. This program will give younger students the opportunity to explore the worlds of science, math, art, literature, readings, and engineering in the company of qualified instructors and fellow gifted students. OPPTAG strives to offer challenging academic experiences that incorporate hands-on experimentation and provides students with experiences not found in the traditional classroom.
This is a one-week, half day or full day, non-residential program for students entering grades 3-7. Students have the amazing opportunity to choose one morning and one afternoon class in the same week when participating in Adventures. If students do participate in two classes during a week, the OPPTAG staff escorts students from class to lunch and then on to their second class. We encourage students to bring their lunch, as this is a time to make friends and enjoy the beautiful Iowa State campus. Parents/guardians may also pick up their students to eat lunch on their own. Students may pack a snack and/or drink to have during class time break.
